Jay has been working in the manufacturing / transportation sector for more than 25 years. For 14 years he was with 5 different divisions of General Motors, with experience in progressive leadership roles until 2006 when he assumed the Director of Operations role with Volvo Construction Equipment in Goderich, Ontario. In 2007 he was then quickly promoted to President, Volvo Construction Equipment Canada until 2009 when he was offered the opportunity to assume a Global Vice President role at headquarters in Brussels Belgium. Here he was responsible for the deployment of Volvo’s Operational Excellence program through the use of internal Lean Consultants as well as the Logistics, Quality, Industrial Engineering, H&S and Environment functions for the organization of 15,000 employees. A big opportunity professionally but an even a bigger opportunity for Jay, his wife and 3 girls to experience living on the other side of the ocean while learning more about different cultures. After almost 6 years overseas with Volvo he was attracted back to Canada to assume the Chief Operating Officer role for Hammond Power Solutions in Guelph. He subsequently left this company and is advising clients on improving people and processes by using lean operational and strategic leadership skills.

Jay has always had a strong desire for continuous learning and loves the challenge to implement what he learns. After graduating from Windsor University with an undergraduate degree he went back to school and received a MSc in Manufacturing Operations, an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business Strategy from Oxford University. When not travelling or playing sports he and his wife are chasing his youngest daughter around the province watching her play soccer for Guelph or running in cross country meets, until the 2 other daughters come home from university for the holidays, at which time all is well with the universe.
